New York, USA – America’s poor and middle class are celebrating skyrocketing prices, after having suffering through decades of “stubbornly low” inflation.
With inflation on the rise, those of us who are not part of the wealthiest 1% of society can look forward to consumer prices keeping up with or even exceeding the increases seen in college education and private health insurance over recent decades. Certainly everyone will feel relieved and enriched.
Not all are happy however, with some complaining that the inflation is not high enough. One angry shopper we interviewed complained, “I went to Walmart today, and what used to cost me $100 a year ago, now costs me $110. How am I ever going to feel the wealth of inflation if prices increase so slowly? I can only hope and pray that this time next year those same items cost me $200, so I can experience the true riches the Federal Reserve promised us all that inflation will bring.”
Another angry Walmart shopper complained, “I’m fed up of all kinds of goods costing less than they did a decade or two ago due to low-cost manufacturing in China and advances in technology. I’m never going to achieve success in life with inflation as it is, the government and Federal Reserve have to do more to drive CPI to double-digit increases for the sake of hard working Americans like me!”
Bureaucrats and politicians across the nation are hopeful that the increase in inflation can be maintained to make up for decades of undershooting. The further the CPI is from the 2% minimum, the wealthier we will all be, especially the nations poor who are struggling to pay their bills with such low rates of inflation.
Here hoping that before long every hard working American can experience the riches of hyperinflation, currently only experienced by a lucky minority of countries such as Zimbabwe and Venezuela. Soon the USA can be a member of that exclusive hyperinflationary club.
